For some reason, either as a result of the hdlist files or the dependancy lists in the spec files associated with Thunderbird,
the dependancy files are not being requested or installed when you select Thunderbird for installation.
Since those packages don't get installed, and since no errors show up, a lot of people won't be aware of the problem.
The packages that are required include; libcairo1libcairo1-0.4.0-1mdk,
libpixman1-0.1.4-2mdk
libglitz1-0.4.0-2mdkOnce those are installed, Thunderbird should work. If it fails to launch, remove Thunderbird and re-install. It should work fine after that.
Note: the versions of those dependancy packages might be different if you're not running Cooker (like I am), but the correct ones are included on the CD's and DVD, as well as the mirrors.
