But we are going to need more information before we can help. How do you connect to the Internet? Are you going through a firewall/router, or are you connected directly to a DSL/Cable modem? Or do you connect some other way?
If you are connected directly to a DSL/Cable modem, does your ISP use PPoE or PPPoA? It sounds like you have configured your NIC with a static IP. Chances are, you should be using DHCP instead, and letting the modem or router send the configuration information to your computer. It is also possible that you do not want to assign any IP address directly to the NIC, but need to use PPPoE or PPPoA instead.
