I installed LE again as have had continued problems with urpmi not owrking, bad
sigantures etc. Install went well. I left /home alone (no pun intended).

On previous install X was configured - this time asked me to do it, did so
according hardware info, but itś incorrect. Attempted to get into Control
Centre to change it but keep getting incorrect password for root. Have tried
both user and root passwrods, but neither work. I am certain I using the
password that I set. Can anyone help please.

Thanks

Hi Rosemary-
Maybe someone else knows another way, but here is how I have reset my root pasword when I get snafu'd:
reboot your machine
when you get to the boot choice screen (the one that lets you choose linux,or linux-non-fb, or failsafe) press 'esc',
you'll get a console looking screen,
type 'linux 1' (I think there's a space between linux and 1),
this puts you into runlevel 1,
type 'passwd', this lets you reset your root password-just type in whatever you want it to be. Confirm it, and you're off!!

There is a longer way of doing that( by editing the /etc/passwd file, but this usually works ( the 2 times I have had to).

Peace

Cameron
