I installed LE again and now think I have a KDE problem. It didn seem to load properly, and when I open programmes they are stuck at the upper 2/3 of screen, won minimise or close from top right corner because itś not visible. I can use more than one thing at a time either. I have the menu star, desktop button (which isn working), firefox launcher (whcih is), PIM button, and konsole button. Or did - they have jsut this minute disappeared. I have desktop icons for the shortcuts I had created. I had saved /home during the install. I think KDE didn load properly as it seemed to stall when it was initialising the monitor. Iĺl try another window manager meantime.

Can anyone help please.

I hope I can figure out how to reboot since the star menu button has gone!

Hi rosemary-
I seem to remember running into this same problem a while back, and I think it had to do with the monitor config I chose while installing. Unfortunately I don't remember exactly what I did to fix it (that was a frustrating day, if I recall). Does ctrl-alt-del work to reboot, or ctrl-alt-esc to kill whatever programs are in the way (hold the cursor on the program window and ctrl-alt-esc, brings up a skull-and-crossbones, then hit enter).
If all else fails, main switch, reset button, or power cord!

It's midnight here in Seattle---g'night!!

Peace

Thanks for replying. I remembered the Ctrl+Alt+Del and it worked to reboot. Treid failsafe and various things, then gave up and went to knoppix. Couldn get to IRC in knoppix to talk to someone live, so rebooted - and lo and behold got the ususal screen and so far everything works. I dunno ..
