You probably have the library itself, but not the header files needed to compile programs that use that library.
One thing I have noticed with the 3 CD public download is that a lot of the development packages are not included in the first 3 CDs. So you may have to specify an Internet main source before you can install them. Mikkel -- Registered Linux User #16148 (http://counter.li.org/)
