Hi gang,
Say, I installed Knoppix on a lower end desktop because it has the
ability to turn on DMA hardware acceleration - without it, this
particular computer is dead in the water. I have installed my favorite
distro on it now (2005 Limited of course) and it is slow - my question
is, I have turned off all the KDE animations, prefetching, shading, blah
blah blah, but it is still slow. How can I turn on the DMA under
Mandrake 2005 to make my old favorite desktop KDE work quicker? It sure
does make quite a difference - it has an apparent increase in speed of
some 5 or 10 times under Knoppix.
