That is definitly strange. I have used externel modems for at least 25
years, and the only time I have run into anything like that was with a
bad cable, a bad power supply for the modem, or a dieing modem. (You run
into a LOT of different problems when helping manage a BBS with 16 phone
lines.)

I agree but I had tested these modems on a win box and they worked well,
and I am talking about 2 or 3 of them.
