I am not sure what the trouble was the first time. It should not have been a dependency issue. The installer is susposed to take care of that. But it is possible that it missed something. In any case, I am glad you have it working now.
NOw, when it comes to the packages you are missing - the install software tool doesn't show packages that are already installed. If you only have the CDs as your software source, it will also be missing some of the development packages - there was not room on the CDs for all of them. But you can get them off the Internet. What you need to do is define a few more sources.
