You can indeed use fetchmail to collect the mail from your ISPs POP3 server, but there is no need to. You could just as easily simply use your mail client, Kmail,Evolution,Thunderbird etc to fetch the mails. The only reason you might want to use fetchmail was if you wanted to do some kind of processing on the mails before handing them to a mail client. (Processing might include scanning them for spam or Windows viruses) As for mails "forwarded to my static IP", I assume you mean using SMTP protocol in which case a mail server such as Sendmail (or the Mandriva default mail server Postfix) would be able to receive them. But once again I would ask why you would go to the trouble of running a mail server just to receive mails from your ISP. (Unless of course you just want the fun of trying :-) See my website for detailed instructions on setting up a Postfix mail server.
