I don't think the purchased version would make any difference. The
problem of not being able to compile the pearl module is probably
because of some of the development modules not being installed. The
error messages point you to what you are missing.

>From the lspci output, a bit more research is going to be needed before
we can make your NIC work. When you get a message like "Ethernet
Contoller: Intel Corp: Unknown device 1026", it indicates that the NIC
is not in the hardware database that lspci is using. Try running
"lspci -v" and posting the section for the NIC.
