The newest ipods will hang when connected to a Linux kernel under a certain
patch level. The cause is that there is something wrong with the ipod
firmware that gets very upset when Linux tries to mount the drive and look at
the end of the drive where some of the new types are partition tables are
kept.

In helping an friend with a mini and 10.1, it was necessary to recompile the
kernel, turning off the special "extended partition" type support in the
kernel. In 10.2, it is probably not an issue, but I don't know, since I have
only an older iPod and a Shuffle. Both work perfectly with gtkpod .93 and
above.

Suggestions (any or all): upgrade kernel, upgrade to 10.2, recompile kernel,
update ipod firmware, use latest gtkpod.
