Well it seems that the install DVD was corrupt. As I downloaded it again and
its now about 90% through installing. Not sure how it set up my hard drives
as I went for auto install option.
I should have realized there was a problem with the disk as it was
installing in vga low mode! Hopefully the next email will be from my Linux
box.

This is the set up:
hda5 5.8Gb Ext3 /
hda6 1Gb Swap /swap
hda7 29GB Ext3 /usr
hda8 5.2GB Ext3 /tmp
hda9 996MB Ext3 /var
hda10 14GB Ext3 /nas
hdb1 152Gb Ext3 /home
It just spent what seems like an age formatting and checking for bad
blocks and when finished gave this error msg:
invalid hdlist description.
I'm curious as to what happened to your primary partitions on hda.
Where are hda1 -hda4??
