No, I didn't. I went to a school in Vancouver called Lord Byng.
As for the name..hey it saves in paying for annoying things like unlisted
phone numbers. :-)

John; Eeeeeewwwwwww! Lord Byng?? On 16th Ave.? Ewww! (Grin!). I didn't
know people actually admitted that they went to that school. Hmph! (LOL!)
Nothing at all wrong with Byng. When I wasn't skipping out in Grade 12 some
of the best pot to be found in the city was there. Of course this was way
back in 1970 so it wasn't, by modern standards, very good.
And we won most of the fights with the greasers from Kits, so that must count
for something. :-)
Well, look at the bright side. At least it wasn't in Surrey! Acceptance
to those schools would require that you have at least one Harley
chopper, an arrest record, and a Pick-up truck with a gun-rack.
Like the joke goes,....What do Surrey kids get for their birthdays?
Vancouver kid's bikes! And sometimes, the Vancouver kids were still
attached to the bikes. Jeesh!
The only problem with Surrey is the endless strip malls punctuated by more
strip malls. Add Whalley and stir. Ewwwwwwwwwwww.
Give me the Red Onion on W 41st ave. or Fresgo's on Denman anytime!
All of a sudden, I'm getting a little hungry. Hmm.
Red Onion is good, I've eaten there a fair bit. And did Fresgo's move in the
last three weeks or something. It's been on Davie St for years!!!
Oh, and Hamburger Mary's beats Fresgo's all to hell and gone. Add in the fish
and chips at the English Bay Concession stand and you're in heaven, I tell
you, HEAVEN!
Actually, I'm no longer fighting the nightmare called traffic in Greater
Vancouver. I'm relaxing on Vancouver Island, Ladysmith to be precise, where
the rush hour lasts about 4 minutes. And I can actually purchase a fully
detached house on 1/3 acre for something under a zillion dollars. (You don't
really want to know how little [smirk])
So here's to you sitting in traffic trying to cross the Port Mann bridge while
the bicycle freaks tell you that you should ride a bike into town. Or
swearing at the delays on the Burrard Bridge while the same bike nuts rejoice
over their absconding with 1/3 of the thing.
Ahhh, life is wonderful!!!!!

Hmmm, Speaking of the imminent demise of SCO, I thought I'd clear up a
few things for ya John.
First, I don't live in Vancouver now. Been in Montreal for about 7 years
so I don't have to deal with the traffic out there anymore.
Second, you're absolutely right about Davie Street. I always got the 2
mixed up.
Third, Mary's ?? Never heard of it. Is this one of those places that
makes the trip worth it from out here in 'frogland'? Hmm.
Fourth, Congrats on the move to Ladysmith. Good choice. I keep a place
in the Gulf Islands myself and I get over there as often as possible. I
snapped it up for a song about 15 years ago.
If you ever take a ferry over to North Pender Island, check out the
chuckwagon as you get off the ferry ramp. They're rated as one of the
top three burger joints in B.C., bar none.
But bring your appetite, cause the burgers are up to 2 pounds, and the
buns are 9 inches in diameter and baked fresh every morning. Now, that
fills you up! You don't wanna know what their 'deluxe' looks like!
Oh, yeah, and smart people in Vancouver know to avoid most of the
bridges during rush hour. Then again, I never had to cross any on
weekdays, so I can't say that I've 'experienced' the bikers myself. I
sure hope they're smart enough to stay out of my way, since anyone with
Quebec plates on their cars are feared throughout the rest of the
country! You should see how the folks in Ottawa get out of our way when
we drop in to town for a Linux conference! I'll try to get pictures next
time!
One more thing, do yourself a favour and get over to Lantzville if you
get a chance. Try out the food in the pub (They only have one pub). You
may never go back to Ladysmith. But then pub food on the west coast is
pretty famous as it is.
Jeez! I'm really feeling hungry now.
And that's all I have to say about SCO! (Just respecting the Netiquette
rules about hijacking threads!). Now, where's my Pepto?
