Hi Matt
        Easiest way I have found as some one who knows windoz is to get hold of 
a 
copy of "partition Magic". Shrink windozs partion by about 5 GB leaving the 
free 5 GB unallocated. That's no partion at all on it. Set cd drive to boot 
in bios and boot up with first Mandriva cd in it, and when asked about 
partionning go for the "use free space option. I'm assuming the Think pad has 
a big enough hard drive, a cd drive and about 128Mb of ram
