Most of the parts(CPU fan,Chassis fans and Power unit fan) of my
machine are quiet , but hard-disk drives make a little noise(maybe round
noise of motor).
And unfortunately my machine is near my bed.
Therefore I would like to power off the machine temporally without
shutting down the linux.
But HDD's noises are not so unbearable. The noises aren't too big to
sleep(although I feel a little bit uneasy...).
So I adopt your suggestion.

do you mean "hibernate"
I, for one, leave my machine running all the time. When I'm done with
a session, I go to Menu, Logout, End Current Session, then just turn
off the monitor. I have heard that Linux boxes have cron jobs that
tend to run at ~4AM, so shutting it down means that some jobs, updates
don't get run, and don't necessarily run on booting up. I have a
fairly quiet machine and it's not near my bed, so it doesn't bother
me. To restart my session, I turn on the monitor, wiggle the mouse or
hit a key, and log in. No long boot times.
