Many thanks for your advice, Derek.

I have followed it and 2006beta has been installed. However, I have
one large problem - it won't boot.

My internet connection is an ethernet card into a router/modem. During
installation, all the required packages were downloaded without
problem.

On booting, the sequence shows: "Bringing up interface eth0". But
then, for some reason, there is "Bringing up interface ppp0". At that
point, the booting stops and refuses to continue, even after a very
long wait.

I am certain that I have not selected "ppp" anywhere during the
installation. It stops both with a normal boot and with a failsafe
boot.

PLEASE, how can I stop it trying to start ppp0, as I can't run the
distro to do anything?

Very many thanks to you or anyone else who can help.

Cheers

Keith
