I just want to throw out this small caveat for those trying this. ACPI has
found its way into a lot of things including IRQ assignments among others.
Forcing ACPI to be fully implemented in software when your hardware may be
non-standard could cause some severe problems. If Mandriva is not turning it
on, could be because the detection routine is picking up on some type of
non-standard implementation and it defaults to safe choices.

If it works, hey, great. However, being slightly more conservative, I might
choose to default to trying out APM rather than ACPI in this particular case.
At the very least, you should try out all of your hardware and keep a watch
on any intermittent problems that might lead you to suspect some type of
hardware issue. Especially any kernel panics, even if they don't seem to
occur frequently or be related. I can think of several instances where I had
major issues with ACPI daemons on an earlier motherboard that seemed to have
a less than standard implementation of it.
