1.) Get online and get all the necessary updates
2.) In your ~/tmp/kde-yournamehere dir, clean out whatever is in there => same
with the /var/tmp/kde-yournamer here dir (after step 1)
3.) Try starting Konqueror while you're in another window mangler/deskslop -
if it still doesn't start, then it's a bigger issue.

Thanks for the help -everyone.
It appears that step 1. "normal updates" solved the problem.
I forgot that my first 10.1 system worked much better after
the updates were done.
