I installed the appropriate PPD and checked out everything else I could
find related to CUPS, ESP Ghostscript and Foomatic. Everything seems to
be in the right place with correct permissions but nothing prints.
lpstat says the printer is printing the job but then has a message
"unable to send to printer, no such device." (I'm speaking from memory
from day before yesterday since, I'm on the Win 98 side of my dual-boot
right now. I'm trying to migrate permanently to linux and getting the
printer to work is the most important issue at this point.)
If the error message is "no such device", then I would check the
connection of the printer - make sure you specified the correct port. If
the printer is hooked to a parrelle port, make sure you have selected
the correct lp port. If it is a USB printer, run usbview and make sure
the printer show up. Also double check that the port matches. Running
"grep parport /proc/ioports" will show you the parelle ports the system
knows about.
