Strange. It works fine here on both a fresh install, and an upgrade
from 10.1. A couple of things you can try. Run "rpm -V

"rpm -V..." produces no results, so it's propably ok and after "type mc"
i get:
mc is aliased to `. /usr/share/mc/bin/mc-wrapper.sh'
I'm running in circles :-) mc is necesary for me.

Ok - that looks like it should be. I remember running into this a couple
of years ago, on another distribution. I don't remember all the details,
but it had to do with the language settings. Something to do with i18n
settings, I think. Chack the setting in /etc/sysconfig/i18n, or run
"set | grep LC_ " and post what you get.
