Wishful thinking after 3 days of bittorent.
Has anyone upgraded from 2005 to 2006?
At this point I would love to just cook my 2005 and be
done with it.

Yep I have used urpmi to upgrade two computers so far. No issues
whatsoever.

Pardon the stupid question (I lost my computer smarts with my old hard
drive).
How?
urpmi.removemedia -a
to remove all your current sources
urpmi.addmedia to adds sources for cooker main and contrib
(see man 'urpmi.addmedia' for syntax)
urpmi urpmi
to update urpmi itself
urpmi --auto-select
to update everything else.
urpmi kernel
to install the new kernel (you will be presented a list of available kernels)
edit /etc/lilo.conf to confirm the new kernel will boot as default
lilo -v
to write the Master Boot Record
shutdown -r now
to reboot.
You do not even have to log out of KDE.
Read the TWIKI for more info.
