past ALSA, although it does give ALSA an "ok" before it
freezes. Bigtime cpu use about then. Fan pops on

When I reboot in the old kernel now, the mouse doesn't
work. Once I backed out of kde and, in mcc, changed the
driver. It worked then when I restarted kde, but stopped
again when I rebooted.
Important thing is to boot the new kernel.
Any ideas?
