Well, I did it. Mandrive 2005 LE. Installed it. Now all I got is an hour
glass going around and around in the middle of the screen. At least until
the screen saver kicks in. Then I get a blank screen till I move the mouse
or something. Then the hour glass is back going round and round and round.
Bummer.

Reboot.

The graphical boot loader at least came up this time. Wonder if the "Trend"
thing in the bios thinking Linux was a virus had anything to do with it?
Well, it's turned off now.

Hmmm, rebooted all by itself. That's interesting

Now the hour glass is back. Can't say I'm terribly impressed so far. At
least 8.1 ran right out of the box. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.
Perhaps I'll just wipe the hard drive and start over from scratch.

GAWD, if I didn't have computers to drive me nuts I'd have to take up golf!

If the Graphical boot loader is not comming up right, then the BIOS anti-virus protection may have preventing it from installing correctly. Now that it is turned off, you can try booting with the install disk, pick the rescue mode, and re-install the boot loader.

If you are getting the boot menu, then try using the failsafe mode, and see if that works. If so, we can help you with some tweeks that will get you up and running. There are sometime problems with using ACPI when the ACPI BIOS is not following the specs, and poorly implemented. When that happens, we have to tell the OS not to use parts of them...
