8-) Okay. When you get a chance, you might like to try on the 
ethernet-bearing computer - connect the modem to the ethernet port and 
to the phone line, and then run the Mandrake Control Centre tool to set 
up the connection. <goes and looks> It's something I don't usually do 
at the GUI, sorry!

If you've already done this on that computer, you might need to 
re-configure rather than configure a new one; you need to know how many 
ethernet cards/ports you have, and that's really all. Make sure you 
select Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (that means let the modem do 
the work of giving you an IP address), and make sure if you've got two 
ethernet ports that you pick the one you're plugged into! 

Then you ought to be able to browse to the modem using 10.0.0.1.
