This is a misconfiguration with postfix. If you're not going to use postfix
for localised email delivery (not CLIENT, but SERVER) then you can safely
turn off postfix in the system's running services and not have to worry
about
the error. IF, on the other hand, you're wanting to setup your workstation
to
be a "mail server", then there is quite a bit more that has to be done...

For settings up postix, the best suggestion is from D. Jennings at:

http://www.jennings.homelinux.net/mailserver_config.html

no plans to set up a mail server. I have had trouble trying to get the
samba server to work. I would like to be able to share a printer between a
windows laptop and the linux desktop and I haven't had any luck with that.
Keep getting a failed connection error. Would a screwy domain name effect
samba? The two computers are connected by way of a dlink 704p router/print
server. Just about given up on using the print server with the linux
system, but I was wondering about being able to print from the windows box
through the linux computer.
How would I go about changing the host name? it should be simple, but I
don't know how.

By the way this is cooker x86-64. should the postfix thing be reported as a
bug?

Thanks
dan

Some people have told me they don't think a fat penguin really embodies the
grace of Linux, which just tells me they have never seen a angry penguin
charging at them in excess of 100mph. They'd be a lot more careful about
what
they say if they had.
