Fill in your Mdk. version, processor type and click proceed.
Then, on screen 2, choose sources for *main*, *contrib*, *plf-free* and *plf-nonfree* (plf = Penguin Liberation Front).
Then, click proceed to screen 3.

Now, follow the printed instructions carefully and enjoy your terminal screen while it opens the world to you.

When done, and as a real newbie, don't mess around in the command line for installing software until you're familiar with it. Use the "Configure Your Computer" GUI for that. You can scroll down and select literally thousands of applications to your hearts content.
