Especially interesting is a method to tunnel NFS shares via SSH in order to provide encryption for file-sharing over the local network. A little too paranoid for my tastes but definitely interesting. Also, there is another file system called Andrew File Sharing available for those who want a slightly higher security footprint than that provided by NFS out of the box.
