Well, if the modem is a big deal, perhaps it is time to think about
going high speed -- cable or DSL. If your Dell has a network port (many
do), just hook that up to a router with some CAT cable, then run a
second cable to the cable modem, and away you go. I finally made the
jump from dialup to cable several months ago, and the difference is
astonishing.
