Hi All,
Is it possible to have Chinese charatcers in filenames? if so, how? I currently have Chinese characters on NTFS. It's for my wife who's from Hong Kong. TIA Al

Yes, you can if you use Emacs. You'll have to make sure to install emacs-leim also. If you can't install if from disc or using urpmi, you can get it from rpmfind.net

From within Emacs, you can set the language environment and input language (Options->Mule). When you want to save the file, you'll need to toggle the input method (Options->Mule->Toggle Input Method). From there you can type the filename in Chinese.
