Well, using the ooo2 from contrib, I googled for the Northwind sample mdb
file, installed mdbtools from contrib, selected File / New / Database /
Connect To An Existing Database / Microsoft Access then selected the mdb.
Ooo then proceeded to import the data into a new ooo format database. So
hey, it works, but only for importing Tables, the Queries, Forms and Reports
are not converted.

In fact, I un-installed mdbtools, and it still worked, so the Mandriva ooo
build in contrib must have it built-in (it doesn't appear to be part of the
standard official build). However, there's also a package called
mdbtools-gui in contrib which allows you to browse an mdb file without
importing/converting it and will at least show you what Queries/Forms/Reports
it contains, if not what they are.

See http://mdbtools.sourceforge.net/ for details on what mdbtools supports.
Other programs using mdbtools are Knoda, Rekall, and Kexi so it's good to
have it installed anyway.

John.
