If you are using KDE then any time you select "Print" you will see a print dialogue in which you have a drop down list to select a printer. One of those printers is a virtual printer "Send to Fax". Print to it and kdeprintfax will start up. By default kdeprintfax uses efax to send faxes.Efax is way easier to work with than the alternative hylafax. Configure kdeprintfax, the most important setting is the fax device. The default of "standard modem port" will probably work, if not select serial port 0 or 1 or whatever your modem is being detected as. You can also start kdeprintfax from Menu>Office>Communications>Fax in which case dropping a Postscript file onto kdeprintfax is all you need do to send a fax. Faxing directly from OpenOffice is a bit more complicated. I have a page here http://www.jennings.homelinux.net/fax_cups.html on setting it up. derek -- www.jennings.homelinux.net http://twiki.mdklinuxfaq.org
