I have just come to the conclusion that the hawkins usb modem is a
total piece of shit. Don't worry I won't use that word again.
In windows xp, it works then doesn't work. When it doesn't it
dials out, handshakes, clicks and sounds dead. Checking the task
mgr. shows the system is locked at 100%, until I disconnect. The
software which installed and run beautiful last night quit and I
uninstalled it. When I tried to reinstall, it won't work.
I am computer literate and did manage a small BBS, before the net
came along, on two floppies and later with a hard drive, so I am more
than a newbie to computers in general. This thing has just got me
beat. I am going to take it back ASAP and get an external serial
port modem.
