Let's say I'm using Kwrite to look at a configuration file from a non-root login, and I decide I want to change it. When I go to save the change, I'm informed that I don't have permission. At that point, what is the most efficient means to become root for the one act of saving the file?

Thanks in advance,

I don't know of any way to change your status once Kwrite is already open. If you are absolutely sure you want to make a change, you can open Kwrite as root by using the command "kdesu kwrite" (without the quotes) and giving the root password when prompted, or by opening kwrite from a root terminal - either way will give you the necessary permission to make changes. If you're not 100% sure of the change, make a backup copy of the file first so you can revert if you need to!
