KsCD gives error message "error getting freedb entry".
From http://freedb.org, I find
"The servers run cddbp on port 8880 and http on port 80. The path for
http-access is /~cddb/cddb.cgi."
Does this mean that Shorewall is blocking 8880 ?
If so, how does one access Shorewall's permissions from Mandriva 2006 ?

Go to MCC (mandriva control center) and click on security. If shorewall is running it will show a column of choices to allow and a entry line at the bottom where you can type in ¨ tcp/8880¨ and you should then have the port open to cddb access. HTH
You should not need to do anything to the firewall. You definitely
do not need to open up incoming port 8880 connections. Unless you
have a highly restrictive firewall setup, it does not block outbound
connections. It also keeps tract of outgoing connections, and allows
responded from those connections.
