The problem was that the MB will accept no keyboard input. I can't get
into BIOS at all. I reset the CMOS about a million times already. I
finally put a USB/PS2 keyboard adaptor on it and was able to get into
the BIOS. I've tried factory "failsafe" defaults, "Optimal" defaults,
blah, blah, blah. Reboot without the adaptor though, and nothing is
recognized. I finally went ahead and installed 2006 on it.
Keyboard input is recognized (with the adaptor or not) once its
actually into Linux (it won't even accept keyboard input at the lilo
screen where you pick which kernal to boot from!). After that, it will
accept all keyboard input fine.
Ron,
This may achieve nothing but show my ignorance... but it's worth a shot.
I've often come across an option in various BIOS's for "USB Legacy
Support" or even options to individually enable/disable 'USB Keyboard'
and 'USB Mouse'.
Don't suppose you've tried playing with these settings? I often find
they're set to 'disable' for failsafe defaults, not too sure about
optimal defaults though.
I could see not being able to use a USB keyboard if the settings
were wrong, but not being able to use a standard keyboard is a new
one on me. At this point, I would contact the people that made the
MB, and see what they say. It is possible that someone installed the
wrong BIOS in this board...
