Have you made any changes to your networking setup? Normally, a
bridge is a network interface that ties together 2 or more hardware
interfaces to make a continuous network segment.

You might bridge together eth0 and wlan0 so that all the machines
on the local Ethernet can use the wireless connection to a wireless
router, for example. The bridge has an IP address, but eth0 and
wlan0 do not. (Or share the same IP address, depending on how you
look at it.) Setting up a bridge is common when setting up a machine
to be a firewall/router. You normally would not use one on a
workstation except in special cases. (Some times of Internet
connection sharing or VPNs.)
