Folks, First, let me say that I don't own the list. I just help out. I don't moderate it, either. The only reason I am saying anything at all is because people expect me to.
Now, please, keep all this stuff off the list! I can't believe that after only a week or so of relatively calm list middle-man-agement (re the recent server changeover) there's now a thread that started with an impersonation. I'm not taking sides, but the most recent event I am aware of is this prank email, so that's freshest on my mind. What was the purpose? Please, no one answer that. It was rhetorical. No good could possibly have come of it, other than humor to some, and that is not the purpose of the mailing list. If there are in fact legal matters (I don't know, and I don't want to know) again, please keep it off the list. The best thing to do in situations like these on unmoderated lists, is to ignore people that offend. I know it can be hard, but it will keep the Linux to Crap ratio a bit higher. Now, please, don't respond to my email on the list, either. It is my opinion, and I didn't want to give it to begin with. This is the first response to this type of thread I have ever made to the list (as far as I can remember). If someone feels that what I have said here will in some way make the mailing list worse, than email me privately if you must, but I'd rather the entire thing were dropped.
