Why install 10.1 when 2006 is just as available ?  - The download is free.
The club is just another way to say "Thank you" to Mandriva and support the 
company.  Besides it gives you a free download of some commercial packages 
and drivers not included in the free version.  But for your purpose it's not 
necessary - the development packages are in the free version.

If you don't have enough bandwidth / burner / patience to download the 2006, 
just mail me off-list and I'll send you the CDs by snail-mail.  Mail 
Norway-Denmark is a matter of 1-2 days.
