I also followed the SoS directions and haven't run into this problem.
Everything worked as before.
I suggest a couple of things some of which are in this thread.
1. Backup and rename your current ~/.kde directory and let kde build a new
one...kind of a pain because you have to reconfig kde from scratch, but each
version upgrade of kde brings minor config diffs. You could at least test
this hypothesis with a new user account and look to see whether the config
options are available.
2. For a couple of the SoS packages there's a .7 and .9 version. Upgrade
to
the .9 version.
3. Try adding additional 3.5 packages 1 or 2 at a time and see whether you
restore the lost functionality.
