Hi,
I am trying to install Mandriva 2006 Download edition on a 3 years old
Gateway laptop. Mandrake 10.1 was working fine on that laptop.
The install procedure went well. Then the laptop rebooted and brought
up the login page. But then the laptop freeze. The screen is still
displaying the login page, but the mouse and the keyboard are not
answering anymore.
I tried to install Mandriva again unchecking the "enable acpi" box in
the configuratio of the bootloader and disabling the "acpi" and "acpid"
daemon in the list of services. It is worst this way. After
installation and reboot, I get to the first loading page (the one with
the progress bar), the progress bar goes near the end, and I get a
black screen. The fan is starting then stop and nothing happen. I have
to reboot (hard). The same happen if I try again.

Does anyone has an idea about how to solve my problem?

   Thanks,
   Gurvan
