Jim,

You should probably start a new discussion thread as this one is for a 
differnet problem than you are having......

Based on the limited information you provided it looks as if you are having 
problems automatically launching X at boot.  Please give more information so 
someone can assist.  Is this a fresh install and after the 1st reboot the 
problem started or did you just upgrade?  If upgrade, what version to what 
version? Or did you have an operating GUI on some version of Mandriva and 
just install new updates such as XORG and then the problems started?  What 
brand and model of video card are you using.  Are you using video card 
drivers automatically selected by Mandriva install medea or did you get them 
from some other source?  Specific solutions vary but a start would be to run 
MCC logged in as root user and then get to XFDrake for configuring your video 
display and set it up for a more generic driver without 3D to see if you can 
get GUI back to start.
