You did all kinds of fancy command line stuff, but did you ever think to look for PYGTK2 which is the python interface to the GTK2 C/C++ library? Maybe you don't have it installed or updated? After all, the error was "unsatisfied PYGTK2" and you never even typed that once in any of your urpmi commands to try and fix the problem. I guess I can give a hint, here's what I was able to google up: http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/mandriva/2006.0/i586/media/main/pygtk2.0-2.6.2-1mdk.i586.html Sorry, but "unsatisfied PYGTK2" seems kinda obvious considering you apparently know enough of what python is and how urpmi works to try and fix it...
