OK, i am posting this on the newbie list because i have no answer on the
expert list (that is like a desert). So, here we go again :

On mandriva 2006 official, pentium 3, 512MB mem, everything on gimp V2.2 is
configured all right for the cache size (256MB). I've seen no recent updates
available for the gimp (2.2.8-6mdk, also in the devel/community tree). I've
searched the bugzilla for a noticeable report about a same behavior, but
found nothing.
When i open a jpg image of a size like 3MB, i select a part of the image (more
than half) and i hit ctrl+C to copy this part of image (in order to paste
somewhere ale). Consequence : cpu is at 100% for about 20 seconds. And this
gimp sometimes crashes at that moment.
So when i am treating a lot of photos and i loose the work of two hours, i get
really nervous.
Here is the output on a terminal when the gimp crashes :

sending pixbuf data as 'image/png' (png)
sending pixbuf data as 'image/bmp' (bmp)
sending pixbuf data as 'image/jpeg' (jpeg)
sending pixbuf data as 'image/png' (png)
sending pixbuf data as 'image/bmp' (bmp)
The program 'gimp' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 158667 error_code 3 request_code 18 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

Is there any workaround ?
What should i do to correct this problem ?
