What is the purpose of life?

Hi OOz:

It is to test our tolerance to frustration by our PC,
of course!

My IOgear 4-port quit working when I installed Mandrivel
10.1 after working just fine with Mandrivel 9.2. Go figure.

I found and bought the Cables To Go 4-Port USB and PS2 KVM
Switch with Cables for $94.99 + shppg & handling (8 bucks)
from Tiger Direct, which seems to work O.K. with Linux but
works ONLY with USB-equipped computers but DOES work with
either USB or PS2 boards & mice.

I've been reticent to offer an opinion about the KVM switch,
since I don't believe it's purely a KVM switch problem,
rather a problem with the 2.6 kernel that so far no one has
been willing to address at Linux HQ -- and I do not know
enough technically to address the software issue. There are
entries in bugzilla regarding this, and any distribution you
use with that "upgraded" kernel has the same problems.

Unfortunately the old piece of Winders-operated crap that is
temporarily my other PC has no USB port and is not worth
adding a USB port -- which is the other reason for not
offering my experience with this KVM switch; I haven't that
much experience with it.

When I hooked up the Cables To Go KVM temporarily, it did
work very well with Mandrivel 10.1 and until I replace the
other box, it sits here and smiles brightly at me with its
little red and green LEDs.

For whatever it's worth....
