Ok, first I created a simple test file as follows:

%
"Whenever you find that you are on the side of the majority, it is time
to reform." -- Mark Twain
%

Then I create the DAT file as follows:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] Signatures]# strfile kobtaglines1.txt
"kobtaglines1.txt.dat" created
There was 1 string
Longest string: 103 bytes
Shortest string: 103 bytes
[EMAIL PROTECTED] Signatures]#

But when I check the properties of the resulting kobtaglines1.txt.dat
file, I see that the file is 32 Bytes long.

Thank you,
