Head over to easyurpmi.zarb.org and add the plf-free, plf-non-free urpmi
sources. Make sure you have the contribs urpmi source added.
Install the plf versions of mplayer and the plugin. The w32 codecs and
real codecs are there.
You might want to also install the plf versions of Xine and it's
plugins, and vlc and it's plugins. Between these 3 apps, you can play or
stream almost anything out there.
Codecs and apps are in plf because they cannot be included directly in
any Mandriva release. You have some Commercial software, but not the
video and audio codecs and utilities and apps that are restricted from
normal inclusion in the distribution. There are sometimes packages with
identical names included in the Mandriva release and on the plf mirrors,
but these Mandriva packages have usually been built not to use the stuff
that can't be distributed along with the main distro stuff.
Get the plf versions if you are having trouble.
