Not sure  if the OSD menu can come up when it's not connected to a comp.
Mine displays a short messag along the lines of "no incoming signal" and goes 
to sleep with a blinking orange led instead of green.

The screen should tell you what it's setting is when it's wrongly 
connected ...... take those generic settings.

BTW: got some other comp to check your monitors with (the FP and the old one)?

Maybe it's your video card that's playing up ...i.e. heat isues.
