If you had a power failure or terminated an X session unexpectedly, your
Firefox lock file will not have been removed. All you need to do is go to
your $HOME/.mozilla/firefox/????????.default directory and remove the lock
file.
The questionmarks above refer to a random series of letters and numbers which
are unique to your installation.
