Hi all,
I have just recently replaced my IDE internal ZIP drive with an internal
SCSI unit to free up a slot for an extra HDD. Unfortunately i did this
at the same time as upgrading to 2006, so I don't have much grip on
whether this is a general mandriva issue or just 2006 related.
The thing is I only have write speeds of max 32KB/s to the ZIP,
sometimes running as low as 19KB/s. I use a lot of zips I got for free
for daily backups of my thesis, but this speed thing is severely
restrictive. Things go as they should under the other OS, but I don't
use it for anything except running a GC program I couldn't force to work
under wine.
The only thing I have found that even remotely relates to the problem is
http://wuarchive.wustl.edu/pub/aminet/disk/misc/XFSSpeedUp.readme
but I don't know if this has anything to do with what linux is doing.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
