[newbie] Lost Control Panel Icon

Somehow while I was trying to update my files from a new mirror I lost 
the Icon for the Control Panel which includes "software management, 
hardware,etc.
 Any ideas on how I can restore or reinstall whatever is necessary to 
restore the icon and sub menues?
